Table of Contents
Get blessed by a Buddhist monk
One of the top experiences I wanted to not miss out while in Thailand was to visit a Buddhist temple. As that was my first time in Asia I was impressed by these houses of worship and by the serenity and tranquillity of the Buddhist monks spread around. Moreover, we were lucky to get blessed by a Buddhist monk in one of the temples we visited.
Eating insects in Thailand
After experiencing Bangkok’s hectic nightlife at Khaosan Road you will be brave enough to try some local delights: fried insects. Hope you’ll have enough courage to order scorpions…
Stay overnight in a floating bungalow in Khao Sok National Park
Furthermore, we headed to Khao Sok National Park. Limestone cliffs, monkeys and if you are lucky enough you can see the biggest flower in the world – rafflesia. Khao Sok National Park is the perfect place to relax, do some kayaking and monkey spotting.
Thong Sala or food market discovery in Ko Phangan
Needless to say that, food is heavenly delicious in Asia and visiting a food market is a real culinary adventure. I went twice to Thong Sala in Ko Phangan and could not resist yummy noodles, sea fruit, coconut ice cream, mango sticky rice and banana pancakes.
Baan Thai elephant trekking
When in Thailand, go and see some elephants. I visited Baan Tai elephants – a privately owned mini-jungle currently occupied by four elephants. The highlight of my Thailand trip! I feed them, washed them and went for a walk with the elephants….and the best of it is that nobody is allowed to ride them! Highly recommend the experience!
Thai massage
Not to mention that Thai massage is not just a massage… it’s body and mind relaxing heaven. After a long-flight and horrible jet-lag…treat yourself and relax…
Overnight train
Another key point is that if you plan to travel around Thailand, take at least once an overnight train. This is the cheapest option to travel there. The trains are clean, safe and comfortable enough.
Snorkelling and scuba diving
Likewise, if you never tried snorkelling or scuba diving, you have a great opportunity to do that in Thailand. Wherever you go, endless opportunities to discover the colourful marine life will be offered to you. I signed up for a discovery scuba diving class and even saw a shark!
Maya Bay and The Beach
Ready to explore the beach of ”The Beach” at Maya Bay? The best spot to admire the beautiful sunset and see the plankton once it’s dark outside.
Monkey Beach in Phi Phi
To sum up, if you want to spot monkeys, go to monkey beach in Phi Phi! There are organized tours on a regular basis. But safety first, monkeys are wild animals and they can bite, swim and dive! Make a selfie, but don’t bother them too much…
