I’ve never been to Greece and when I saw the opportunity coming in I decided to go….I got an offer to visit Lefkada in Greece for my 37th birthday and I decided to say “YES” to the adventure. Here is my list of the 10 must-see beaches and activities to try in Lefkada, Greece.

First must-see beach in Lefkada: swim in the crystal waters of Porto Katsiki
First thing first, if you decide to go to Lefkada, keep in mind that if you do not rent a car, there is no reason to go there as you will miss out the best of it. There is no public transportation reaching out to the most beautiful beaches like Porto Katsiki well-known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. I was lucky enough to meet a couple going there and accomplishing one of my dreams – seeing the crystal beaches of Lefkada.
Porto Katsiki is a sort of wild small beach, but very beautiful one and is one of the must-sees in Lefkada. Although, the water is clean and crystal, I would recommend you taking swimming shoes beforehand as there are stones covering the bottom of the sea. The sea in Lefkada is very salty as well, so keep that in mind if you want to dive and snorkel.
The second must-see beach and activity to try in Lefkada is visiting Kathisma beach and enjoying a paraplanner flight over the sea
Kathisma is a must-see beach in Lefkada as you can jump from beautiful rocks in the water and swim around. However, a must-do activity in Kathisma remains a paraplanner flight over the sea. If you have never done it before, get a ticket and enjoy the flight. The most beautiful pictures of me are from Kathisma, so this beach has a special place in my heart!
A must-see and must-do activity in Lefkada is to learn how to SUP in Vasiliki village
I would not recommend Vasiliki beach as it’s not something special, but rather I would advise you to learn how to SUP there and go spotting sea ushers as you will see many of them over there. When I travel, I always check for interesting activities to try and to do in order to make my stay more fun and memorable.
Go on a cruise over the 6 Ionian islands – Porto Katsiki (Egremni), Fiscardo (Kefalonia), Ithaca, Papanicolis Cave (Meganisi), Scorpio – Sparti – Scorpidi and Madouri
Well, this is something not to miss out…..I went on a cruise on the 6 Ionian islands for my birthday and enjoyed it a lot. You can see all the islands and stop by some of them. We got a great party on board as I met great Serbians and Greeks and we jumped in the water from abord….This is an absolute must-try activity when in Lefkada, Greece! Buy a ticket, go abord and have fun!
An absolute must-do activity is to visit Nidri waterfall in Lefkada, Greece
The story of how I manged to reach Nidri waterfall will sound crazy, but, in reality it is true. I really wanted to visit this amazing waterfall and as we had our last day in Lefkada free, I woke up early and decided to take a taxi and spend the day there….But, a big but here…Nobody wanted to come and pick me up…Therefore, I decided to calm down, have a coffee and decide on how I am going to spend my last day in Lefkada…The universe has heard me and our Greek tour guide gave me ride on his motorcycle….I was so happy.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed a lot the glacial waters of the waterfall, I knew that once I got enough I will have to go back to Nidri, and I wanted to visit Porto Katsiki…But Porto Katsiki was on the other side of the island and I do not drive…
Well the Universe has heard me again and I met a couple who has rented a car and offered to join them for a visit to Porto Katsiki! When you trully want something the whole Universe tries to support you and make this happen!
Enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine at Fly me bar
Next on my must-see places in Lefkada is Fly me bar. This is an absolute must-visit while you are in Lefkada, because the bar is amazing, they offer delicious wine and the view to the sunrise is mind-blowing! Don’t miss it out and put it on your radar!
Have dinner at Amente Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
In addition, after having a glass of wine at Fly me bar, you can have a romantic dinner at Amente Restaurant in Lefkada. The restaurant is very chic and offers once in a lifetime dinning experience. Make a reservation and treat well yourself!
Don’t miss out to enter Papanikolis Cave
Last but not least comes Papanicolis Cave Meganisi. The cave is included in the 6 Ionian islands cruise, so be prepared for the experience. I must-try activity while in Lefkada, Greece!
Visit Faneromeni monastery
Lastly, we visited Faneromeni Monastery and the Zoo next to the monastery. The monastery itself is not something WOW, but while your are in Lefkada, you can give it a try, especially if you are with children as they have a gorgeous zoo with plenty of cute animals….
While in Lefkada, you should absolutely taste Greek salad, gyros, and orange cake
To conclude, I have to say that I did not try much of Greek food because I did not have time to eat….But I ate plenty of gyros and I also treated myself with a traditional orange cake (portokalopita in Greek). Greek salad and uzo are an absolute must-tries while you visit Greece.
That was my list of 10 must-see beaches and activities to try in Lefkada Greece. I hope to visit another part of Greece next summer, so cross the fingers for me!
