Whoever you ask about their impressions of the Zheravna Festival of the National Costume, will tell you ''Zheravna is magic''. Zheravna is magic because there is a very strict dress code and a code of conduct everyone must respect. Everybody is dressed in traditional Bulgarian ''nosia'' and usage of contemporary objects like plastic bottles and electronic devices are strictly forbidden on the territory of the festival. Everything is authentic - the costumes, the music, the dances, the food and the joy of gathering together.
The best season to visit Bulgaria is with no doubts the summer - abundance of fruit and vegetables, endless beaches, bars, festivals, good vibes and the blue sky. Food is one of the must-try things I would recommend to anyone who visits Bulgaria to not miss out - Bulgarian food is seasonal, traditional, local and super delicious. Here is my selection of summerish refreshing dishes absolutely not to miss out to try in Bulgaria.
The spring is the best season in Bulgaria (at least for me) and there are many public holidays at this period of the year. That why, me and my husband, we decided to visit the region where he grew up and to see his former house, the woods he played with his friends back at the days and to immerse ourselves in his childhood for a weekend. We combined the trip with a stay in the mountains at a country house with relatives of ours.
