Nestled in the Pirin mountain – a city walk in Blagoevgrad

Blagoevgrad reminds me of my last trip in Bulgaria before starting my new life in the Netherlands. With a French friend of mine, we visited the Rila Monastery, hiked the 7 Rila Lakes, made a stop in Melnik for some more hike and wine and ended our trip in Blagoevgrad where she lived back at this time. Koprivshtitsa in Bulgaria is an emblematic town for the Bulgarians because back at the days it was the centre of the Bulgarian Revival. Also, the Liberation of the country from the Ottoman empire started there. The town is located in 1.5 hours drive from Sofia and as locals say ”The summer lasts only 3 days there; if you get drunk you might miss it”.
